Vaporesso XROS Pods Leaking from the Bottom: What’s the Problem?

Have you ever removed the pod from your Vaporesso XROS – either to refill it or to install a new one – and found a puddle of e-liquid under it? Vaporesso XROS pods are sonically sealed to keep the e-liquid in its place, but it’s still possible for them to leak if there’s something incorrect about the way you vape or the way you maintain your device.

Are your Vaporesso XROS pods leaking from the bottom? In this guide, we’ll explain how to fix the problem.

Dry the Pod and Device Completely

If you have a Vaporesso XROS pod that’s leaking from the bottom, remove all of the leaked e-liquid before you begin to troubleshoot the issue.

Before you can begin troubleshooting your leaking Vaporesso XROS, you need to take care of the immediate issue by removing the e-liquid before it has a chance to enter the device’s airflow system and potentially contaminate the internal electronics. Dry the device and the bottom of the pod thoroughly with a paper towel.

If you think that e-liquid might have gotten inside the XROS already, you should try to remove it. Hold a paper towel over the top of the device where the pod should go and place your mouth over the air intake hole. Blow firmly through the hole to force the e-liquid into the paper towel. Keep doing this until no more e-liquid comes out and confirm that your device is completely dry before troubleshooting further.

Don’t Overfill Your Pod

When you fill your Vaporesso XROS pod, don’t add too much e-liquid; always leave a little room at the top.

Vaporesso XROS vape pods fill from the top, which makes them more resistant to leaking than traditional side-filling pods. It’s still possible for your pod to leak from the bottom if you overfill it, though, because the mouthpiece has a silicone plug that seals the pod when you close it. If the plug doesn’t have adequate room, closing the pod will force some of the e-liquid into the atomizer coil assembly, causing it to flood. When that happens, the excess vape juice will flow into the airflow channel and leak from the bottom of the pod.

Don’t Puff So Hard

Don’t use too much air pressure when you puff on your Vaporesso XROS. Take long, gentle puffs if you want your device to produce bigger clouds.

If you’re new to vaping, you might be tempted to take short, firm puffs like you would when smoking a cigarette. That’s not the correct technique when you vape, though, because vapes and cigarettes work differently from one another. When you smoke a cigarette, you can get more smoke by puffing more firmly because that supplies additional oxygen to make the tobacco combust more quickly. When you use a vape, on the other hand, there’s no combustion – you’re inhaling a boiled liquid. Using more air pressure won’t make the liquid boil more quickly; it’ll just cause the atomizer coil assembly to flood with excess e-liquid

The amount of vapor that your device produces when you puff on it is determined by its operational wattage, the efficiency of the atomizer coil and the length of your puff. If you want your device to produce bigger clouds, take longer puffs or consider upgrading your vape.

Make Sure the Pod Is Completely Closed

After filling your Vaporesso XROS, confirm that the mouthpiece is firmly snapped in place and isn’t wobbling. If the mouthpiece wobbles, it’s time to replace the pod.

The fact that the pod in your Vaporesso XROS fills from the top means that you can fill the pod without removing it from your device. That’s a great feature, but it also means that you might not be as careful as you should if you’re in a hurry when you’re filling your device. Don’t just add your e-liquid and throw the mouthpiece back on; take a moment to push the mouthpiece down until it snaps into place. Test the mouthpiece to see if it wobbles. If it does – and you’re certain that you installed it correctly – it’s probably time to start using a new pod.

Try a Thicker E-Liquid

If you’re using a vape juice that consists mostly or entirely of propylene glycol, consider switching to a different e-liquid. The Vaporesso XROS should perform reliably with an e-liquid that has a 50/50 VG/PG blend.

The primary ingredients of most vape juice are vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG). Vape juice makers vary the proportions of those ingredients to give their e-liquids different properties. An e-liquid with more VG will be thicker and will produce bigger clouds, whereas an e-liquid with more PG will have better flavor definition and will perform more reliably with smaller vapes.

In the United States, most e-liquid has a 50/50 VG/PG blend in order to provide the benefits of both and to offer reliable performance with the widest possible variety of vaping devices. In other regions such as the United Kingdom, though, 100-percent PG e-liquids are still common. These types of vape juice might be a bit too thin to work reliably with a device like the Vaporesso XROS. If you’re using a 100-percent PG e-liquid and are experiencing persistent leaking, try switching to a thicker vape juice.

Replace the Pod

If you’re unable to get your Vaporesso XROS to stop leaking by following the other steps in this article, it’s likely that your pod has an assembly problem or other defect. Replace the pod.

Vaporesso has been making XROS pods for many years, and both the pods and the XROS devices are well known for their consistency and reliability. Despite that fact, it’s still possible to encounter a dud from time to time.

Have you been using your XROS for a while without problems? Do you have an XROS pod that’s leaking from the bottom even though you’ve never experienced an issue like that before? Have you tried all of the other steps in this article without success? It’s likely that your pod is defective. Replace it, and the leaking will probably stop.
